Building Energy Ratings (BER's) need to be carried out by specially trained BER assessor, registered by Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI).  The areas we cover are the Mid-West and Munster.

What is a BER:

A BER is an objective scale of comparison for the energy performance of a building ranging from A1 to G. It is rather like the the A to G rating for a household electrical appliance like your fridge. A-rated homes are the most energy efficient and G the least efficient.

For anyone selling or leasing a home from 1st January 2009 a BER certificate will be compulsory. If you are buying or renting a new house or apartment now, you are entitled to a BER - so do ask the seller/landlord or their agent for it.

Below is an indication of what you would expect to pay for a BER Certificate on your Dwelling.

• 1 to 2 Bedrooms €150 (including SEI fee & VAT)

• 3 to 4 Bedrooms and below 2000 sq ft, €200 (including SEI fee & VAT)

• 3 to 4 Bedrooms and up to 3000 sq ft,  €250 (including SEI fee & VAT)

• Dwellings above 3000 sq ft and commercial buildings please ring or email for BER quote
